Toronto French School in Mississauga

The campus building at Dixie and QEW in Mississauga has been in the Toronto French School family since 1973. Originally designed as a local school, this Mississauga private school has expanded the building into a spacious and well-equipped educational environment for its students and staff. It has a warm, nurturing atmosphere that envelops everyone who walks through its doors.

Students from PK to Grade 7 are welcomed at our Mississauga campus. Like the Toronto campus, students entering Toronto French School in Mississauga do not require any prior knowledge of French (up to and including Grade 7), as our Introductory French Program allows our students to achieve a high level of French proficiency within one school year.

The Mississauga campus follows the same curricula as that found in La p’tite école (PK to Grade 1), the Junior School (Grades 2 – 5) and Grades 6 and 7 at the Senior School, all on the Toronto campus. However, they choose their own co-curricular activities based on Mississauga favourites and the interests of the students, including the very popular wood-working sessions, the famed Grade 6 and 7 Dance Troupe, floor hockey and the newest co-curricular hit – the International Fashion Show Club.

TFS Mississauga also conducts a separate program of competitive athletics, utilizing the many beautiful nearby parks and the spectacular Etobicoke Olympium aquatic complex, as well as the grounds surrounding the School. The enthusiastic and sporty Mississauga students particularly enjoy taking part in competitive cross-country, swimming, soccer and track and field, among other sports.

Like the Toronto campus of TFS, the Mississauga campus has its own tradition of annual trips and events. One community event in particular is near and dear to the hearts of all Mississauga families: the June BBQ, organized by the Parents’ Association.

However, the Mississauga branch also shares many events with those on the Toronto campus. Students in Grades 5, 6 and 7 all join their Toronto-based peers on overnight leadership and cultural field trips. As well, Grade 7  Mississauga students take part in the judged Science Fair at the Senior School alongside their Toronto peers, and Grade 6 and 7 students spend time on the Toronto campus to view the annual International Baccalaureate Art Show, mounted by the Level V art students.

The concluding event of the school year on the Mississauga campus is the Grade 7 Assembly. During the assembly held in front of the entire branch, the Grade 7 students are recognized for their contributions, accomplishments and leadership at the Mississauga campus, before most of the students make the comfortable leap to the Senior School in the fall as Level I students.

I am moving to Mississauga with my two daughters. One finished grade 6 in French immersion school in Saskatoon, SK. I will likely live around Square one area. Can my daughter attend your school? What are requirements for that?
